
Web-based video communication needs to be handled with care. Whiteboard Labs carefully deployed its MotionNotes application to automatically generate interactive, video messages with pro athletes to site subscribers through email.
MouthPieceSPORTS set out on a mission to empower pro athletes and give them a vehicle to connect with fans on a real level, without the bias and selective treatment of mass media. The best (and only) way to accomplish this mission was through video. On the web. MouthPieceSPORTS tasked Whiteboard Labs to develop a unique way to distribute these rare moments in sports caught on video.
Whiteboard Labs used its own product, MotionNotes, as a platform for distributing the video content and marketing message for MouthPieceSPORTS. WBL customized the MotionNotes viewer to accommodate the goals of MouthPieceSPORTS. Whiteboard Labs also created special functionality that allows the automated distribution of video messages when people subscribe or refer a friend. Soon, subscribers will be able to choose the videos of their favorite athletes they want to send to friends. Aside from the video, MouthPieceSPORTS is now allowing fans to create their own profiles and pages on the site for more interaction. MouthPieceSports will use MotionNotes for communications from the company to the community, from athletes to fans, and eventually, from fan to fan.
Since its beta launch, MouthPieceSPORTS has seen significant growth in its use and adoption. With more video being added daily of pro athletes having fun and sharing stories off the field, users continue to be engaged and return to the site. Since its launch in June of 2008, subscribers have grown to several thousand, and this is while it’s still in beta! Also, the number of invitations to friends via MotionNotes reached 300 in only a few days. What they have accomplished thus far is no small feat and will set the stage in the realm of online video.
